The SLOT formed on February 2nd, 2002 in Moscow, and is now Russia's top alternative metal / underground rock band. They have been a headliner at almost every major rock festival in Russia, have appeared on the cover of every rock and teen-culture magazine in Russia, and have been featured in Billboard magazine in Russia. In August of 2011 they began an earnest effort to bring their music to the larger world, and released "Break the Code" on Neurodisc/Universal. This English language CD has helped them garner the attention of Western major rock media such as Revolver magazine, where in the Oct/Nov 2011 issue their lead singer, Nookie, was featured as one of the world's Top 25 Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock. There was a 19 city European tour scheduled for the spring of 2011 co-headlining with P.O.D. but unfortunately the concert organizer filed bankruptcy 10 days before the start of the tour forcing the cancellation of the tour by both P.O.D. and the SLoT. In October of 2010 the SLoT performed with Limp Bizkit at Moscow's Olympic Stadium and in 2006 toured with KORN in both Russian capital cities prompting Jonathan Davis to say of SLOT that they are "the Russian hybrid of Linkin Park and Evanescence." Their entrance into the Linkin Park Catalyst remix contest resulted in their placing 9th in the world despite the fact that the entrance was received only about 10 days before voting ended and Russian's were not permitted to vote.
The SLOT's videos have received over 6 million views worldwide on YouTube, and they are the first rock band from Russia since the 1980's (Gorky Park) to receive major radio play in the U.S. Their first English single, Lego, was in heavy rotation on the largest radio stations in Holland (3FM, KinkFM) as well as other European countries. In August of 2011 the SLOT's "Break the Code" debuted at #28 on the American CMJ Loud Rock radio chart and also debuted at #2 on the same chart for total station adds (55 stations). The band is currently working on festival and any possible concert appearances outside the Russian speaking world.
